Consultation comments posted
The Secretariat on Responsible Conduct of Research held a consultation from September 13, 2013 to January 15, 2014 on proposed changes to the 2nd edition of the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS 2). Nearly 70 sets of consultation comments have been posted online to promote the transparency of this public engagement process. Two sets of comments were not posted at the request of the senders.

The Panel on Research Ethics and the Secretariat appreciate the thoughtful responses submitted by Canada’s research community. They will now consider this valuable feedback as they prepare recommendations to the federal research Agencies (CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC) who are responsible for approving revisions to TCPS 2.

Activities report
The Secretariat is involved in a range of activities to further the Agencies’ common commitment to the ethical and responsible conduct of research. Recent activities are showcased in a brief report: Activities of the Secretariat on Responsible Conduct on Research, which provides facts and statistics detailing how the Secretariat has been delivering on its mandate.

Closed captioned webinars
The Secretariat has produced several webinars on important TCPS 2 topics. These webinars are now available with closed captioning. This will provide improved accessibility for a variety of audiences.
